Music Filtration

Here’s an interesting application of a recommendation engine:  The Filter.  This kind of software is likely to be much more useful that the Playlist features built into your favourite media player.  It only works with iTunes and Windows XP right now, but there are versions in development for Mac and for Windows Media Player.

  1. Interesting. Strikes me as a Pandora.com for your own music collection.

  2. Cheers for the link – I’ve been playing with smart playlists for a while, but while they are great to start off with – i find that they don’t change contents frequently enough.

Using the filter I can easily build playlists, while there are a few dud songs it is easier to use than creating smart playlists and more contextual than shuffle.

I’ll certainly be looking at future versions of the software
